Guide to measuring for corsets

The right corset size depends on several things:

  • Type and style of the corset

  • Whether it is for fashion or waist training

  • Body shape. A more curvy body shape can have greater compression capabilities. If your natural waist is 95cm or more, the compressions can be up to 15cm (six inches).

  • If you like to wear the corset completely closed or with a gap.

The general reduction is 10-15cm ( 4-6 inches) below your natural waist measurement and 5-10cm ( 2-4 inches) for your bust and hips.                                                                                                                     For example, if your measurements are:                    your corset measurements will be:

  • Waist natura 74cm                                                          corset waist 64-59cm

  • Bust natural  92cm                                                          corset bust 87-82cm

  • Hips natural 98cm                                                           corset hips 93-88cm

How to Measure for a Corset

Make sure that you keep the tape measure close but not too tight.

Take all vertical measurements on one side of your body and horizontal measurements should be taken with the tape measure parallel to the floor. Your chest measure should be taken according to your figure.

Bust (1) should be measured around the fullest part of the bust. Make sure the tape measure does not slip down at the back

Underbust (2) around the body but immediately under your breast.

Waist (3) measure around the natural waist line

High hip (4) should be measured around hip bones approx. 10 cm below the waist

Low hip (5) measure around the fullest part of the hip normally over the bottom approx. 20 cm below waist.
